About – The Brain Learns

about us

Know More About Us

Born during COVID-19

COVID-19 brought with it many unfortunate events, but it also brought new beginnings.
In those COVID lockdowns, when families were locked indoors, with little to do, a father and his
daughters encountered online learning. They also discovered that they could learn many
different things even from the very top ranked universities worldwide and other top rated
institutions of higher learning.
Being a teacher, the dad zeroed in on the brain and how it learns among other areas. It was
observed that there are a lot of research findings on the best ways to learn, from brain science
and cognitive psychology, information that is not being widely shared with parents, students and
in education circles.

The Problem

Many a time, students have been blamed by parents, teachers and the society for not working
hard in school or worse still, labeled as having poor brains without being provided with the
necessary tools for effective learning. More prevalent is the notion that only a select number of
students have the brain for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths(STEM) or more
pointedly the myth that only a select few of students, especially male, have “math brain”.

The solution

We have therefore set out to change the unfair narrative and stereotyping of students by making
available to parents/sponsors, teachers/trainers, students and the society at large, these tools
which not only have been well researched but have also been tested and proved to work. We
have partnered with experts who are at the forefront of distilling new information as it emerges
from research to bring out the very best of learning strategies for students so that they don’t just
have to guess their way. The tools also will encourage and equip people for lifelong learning
especially in this era of advanced technology. These times require career flexibility. People are
now required to unlearn, learn, re-skill and adapt more than ever before, as careers are going to
be disappearing and new careers emerging at unprecedented rates.
With advanced technology of brain imaging it has been established that the brain is a special
organ with awesome characteristics, especially its plasticity, read about it in our blog ~here~.
Given the knowledge now of brain plasticity, it’s no longer acceptable to stereotype students.

Our Approach

We speak to students; individually, in small groups and whole school gatherings. We also speak to parents in social gatherings such as churches. To be able to reach more people we are sharing the information through emails for anyone who enrolls.
